Course Description

Welcome to the ultimate warm-up before the big night. This semi-formal, high-school-themed brunch is your chance to relive the best parts of school (minus the homework) while rallying Chicago’s young, fly, and community-forward crowd to raise awareness for the Black Ensemble Theater ahead of their October gala.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this “course,” students will:

  • Network with fellow “freshmen, sophomores, juniors & seniors” (aka Chicago movers and shakers).

  • Participate in interactive activities: Talent Show, Superlatives, Yearbook signing.

  • Support the arts by contributing to the Black Ensemble Theater’s mission to elevate Black voices in performing arts.

Required Materials

  • Semi-formal “first day of school” fit

  • Open mind + open heart

  • Appetite for brunch classics and boozy juices

Course Schedule

  • Period 1: Check-in & Mimosas

  • Period 2: BET Spotlight

  • Period 3: Talent Show / Open Mic

  • Period 4: Yearbook Superlatives & Awards

  • Final Bell: Brunch networking & vibes

Grading

  • Participation: 40% (Talent show, yearbook fun, discussions)

  • School Spirit: 30% (Outfit + energy)

  • Community Impact: 30% (Fundraising contribution toward $3K goal)
